For over three decades, Bay Area Community Resources After School Programs have had the privilege of serving the diverse communities of the Bay Area. They have done so by promoting the healthy development of individuals, families and communities through direct services, volunteerism, and partnering with the San Francisco Bay Area. The BACR family is a tight knit group, made up of passionate and creative individuals who have devoted themselves to the betterment of the lives of the children we serve. This blog was created to appreciate and showcase the achievements of our outstanding staff and their programs. Please join us on our journey of documenting the lives of the everyday heroes that serve in our programs.

The Afterschool Alliance‘s annual Lights On Afterschool event is a nationwide celebration of afterschool programs and their important role in the lives of children, families, and communities. Lights On was launched in October 2000 with celebrations in 1,200 communities nationwide.  The following year 3,600 events took place.  Today, more than 7,500 Lights On Afterschool rallies are held annually, attracting 1 million Americans and media coverage nationwide. The effort has become a hallmark of the afterschool movement, and generates media coverage across the country each year. The event spreads a powerful message: that millions of more children need quality afterschool programs. BACR has celebrated the event for many years, and we had another successful turnout this year!
